This Week: Building a Well Rounded Stash
Finally time to shop! Now that we have organized our stashes and evaluated the holes, let's talk about building a well-rounded stash. First, we'll discuss what kind of prints to look for. Then I'll share my favorite stash builders!
Geometric Prints vs. Organic Prints
Kona Cotton and Moda Bella Solids. Pat Bravo also just came out with a delicious collection of solids called Pure Elements!
Quilter's Linen & Quilter's Tweed are both 100% Cotton quilting fabric printed with linen and tweed textures. Kaffe Fassett Shot Cottons, Moda Crossweaves and Robert Kaufman Carolina Chambray are all woven fabrics with one color in the warp and another color in the filling. Because of this, the fabric looks different in different lights and at different angles. It makes for a really interesting affect!
My Favorite Stash Builders
Modern Meadow and Aviary. One of my absolute favorite stash prints is Herringbone from Modern Meadow. It's a beautiful feather-like design that comes in cheery colors as well as neutrals. I have also recently stashed a few of the Honeycomb prints from that line. Very geometric as well. Another favorite I was lucky enough to stash this past year are the Woodgrain prints from Aviary. They're Tone-on-Tone prints and a great organic print stash builder! The line is being released again in new colorways this year, so keep your eyes peeled!
Farmer's Market, Meadowsweet, and Meadowsweet 2 lines are another crowd favorite and a new favorite in my stash. They're a good mix of Tone-on-Tone and Color + White candy-colored prints. Many of the colors from the first two lines are a bit harder to come by, so don't hesitate to snatch them up if you run across them!
Wild Thyme collection. They're simple and sweet and come in a variety of colors including reversed prints of many of the colors. You can grab the whole collection of Seed Pod prints (there are 6!) here!
Kei Honeycomb Dots in just about every color, but my budget won't allow it. Instead I've looked for alternatives. Bliss by Bonnie and Camille has a great tight dot print as well as Rainy Days and Mondays by Melimba & Beccabury. I also keep a few colors of Ta Dot by Michael Miller and Full Moon Polka Dot by Amy Butler on hand!
Cosmo Cricket's Girl Friday line. I picked up this Dandelion print from Habitat by Michele D’Amore.
I could go on and on, these are just a few of my favorites!
If you made it this far, good job! Now go treat yourself to some fabric (or shop your stash if you're stashpacting)! :)
