GO! Baby Review & Giveaway!

GO! Baby Giveaway & Review! by jenib320
GO! Baby Giveaway & Review!, a photo by jenib320 on Flickr.
After a few weeks of playing around with the Accuquilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutter, I'm ready to put in my two cents about this product! Please be aware that I did receive this cutter free of charge, but this is my honest opinion! Scouts honor! :)

Vintage Sheet HST Pillow by jenib320

In short, I love it! I have been using it exclusively with vintage sheets (remember my Vintage Sheet HST Pillow Tutorial?), which I was a little worried about at first! Vintage sheets are generally higher in thread count than regular quilting cotton so I wasn't sure how well it would work! I'm happy to say it works quite well! I've done up to EIGHT layers at a time! Granted when I do that many there are sometimes a few threads that don't get cut, but that's alright! I've had the best results when using between 5-6 layers.

For my uses, this cutter has been great! There is some waste, but for as quick as I have been able to cut, it's been worth it! I have been using it to turn vintage sheet scraps into 5" square charm packs! Since I'm cutting from scraps already, the waste isn't really a big deal for me. I might not use my nicer quilting cottons with this machine for every project, but for managing scraps it's been a real time saver.

I have really been giving this machine a workout; as you can see from that stack, I've already cut hundreds of squares using it. I have seen a little bit of wear on the underside of the die and of course on the cutting mat, but nothing major enough to be worried about! Thankfully the machine is quite light and easy to turn, which was really important for me. I have arthritis in my wrists and hands, and I have no problem using it at all. Well, unless you count when I tried 10 layers. Haha, but let's be honest, that was just a bit of a bad idea! ;)

I look forward to trying out some of the other dies they have to offer. Now that the Single Girl is under my belt, maybe the apple core? I think using this machine would be the only way I'd try a quilt like that, I hate, hate cutting! Especially when it's something curved!

So, you know what's next! I've been given the go-ahead to give one of these machines (and three dies!) away! No hoops for this one, just leave one comment to enter! I'll draw a random winner on Friday at 9pm CST. Make sure you leave your email address or that it's viewable in your profile! (International entries welcome!)

Good Luck!

Promised my mom I wouldn't open it until I'm back down by her this weekend (I ended up "babysitting" my presents as they moved last week). But, on the off-chance it's not, I'll throw my name in (and if it is, and I win, I'll give it to my mom, who would love it too!). Hope you have time this coming weekend and we can get together! :)

  174. Please add my name to the drawing for the Go Baby cutter. Jo-Anns had a really good price, but I still can't justify the expense right now. I love to make jelly roll quilts, so I would start with the 2.5inch die.
