Project Monochrome

I'm starting a new personal project and I thought some of you might be interested in playing along. I've dubbed it Project Monochrome!

Project Monochrome is a challenge to work with a wide range of colors, focusing on one at a time. We'll be constructing a series of sewing and quilting projects to explore each color. "Monochrome describes paintings, drawings, design, or photographs in one color or shades of one color. A monochromatic object or image has colors in shades of limited colors or hues." (Thank you Wikipedia!)

There are no rules or anything, you can decide what kind of guidelines you'd like for your personal challenge. For my projects, I am going to be using different shades of a single color, with fabrics that contain only that color and the addition of creme or white. I am taking this challenge to gain new perspective on color and force myself to work with colors I don't use a lot!

This project is really informal, no deadlines or pressure. We'll all create projects at our own paces, when there is time to spare! You don't have to create projects for all the colors if you don't want! Perhaps simply creating one project will fulfill your personal challenge :)

I'll be back tomorrow with my first project, PINK! I hope that you'll join me in this challenge! I've created a page for this project (it's under the header!) that I'll update along the way! Feel free to grab a button for your blog:

  2. Wow...this is an awesome idea. I'm just starting to stick my toe into the solids world (like really "solids" and minimal prints world for a quilt! eek! I'm terrified!. This may be perfect for me. I've got to sleep on it before i can decide to 'dive' in. And I too can't wait to see what you come up with. Your talent is so impressive. Cristina

  4. This sounds great! I am not a purple user - but for some reason I could not resist the kona purple bundle. It is on it's way and seems like the perfect thing for this project! Great timing.

  9. I love this idea! I have a couple color groups that I usually stick too and I don't really use any others. This would be a great way to step out of my comfort zone! Looking forward to see what you come up with : )
