Catch-up!

Traveling Handmade by jenib320
Traveling Handmade, a photo by jenib320 on Flickr.
It's good to be home! We did lots of traveling over the holiday weekend, first to Michigan, then to Ohio, and then back to Wisconsin last night. It was wonderful to see everyone! Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend! :)

As always, I was traveling handmade! Put my duffel bag, and many, many bags to good use!

The Board by jenib320

I updated my inspiration board today! It was getting a bit messy. I think I need a bigger one (and more wall space!), I always have leftover goodies to put on it!

I put the finishing touches on the Lined Drawstring Bag Pattern today! I'll be back tomorrow to talk more about it! :)

I finished stitching my wooden cross-stitch pendant from The Workroom! Went with my go-to colors and a simple design. I'm not much of a jewelry wearer, so I made it into an ornament! It's currently living on my inspiration board! :)

Black Friday by jenib320

I did very little black Friday shopping, but I did shop Julie of The Intrepid Thread's sale! I love her shop and she has some great fabrics right now!

On Saturday I was in Ohio, so of course we went thrifting at my old haunts. I think they missed me! The shop is back open and loaded up with new goodies! :)

The Art of Choosing: Harmonizing Color Schemes

The Art of Choosing is a series discussing fabric, color, and the fabric selection process! For past posts, click here.

As I mentioned in previous Art of Choosing posts, I want to spend the next few weeks talking about different color schemes that can be pulled directly from the color wheel! :)

Harmonizing Color Schemes
Today is all about Harmonizing color schemes! Harmonizing color schemes are super simple but can still have a big impact. They're made of two colors that are right next to each other on the color wheel! So, let's explore the 12 harmonizing color schemes in fabrics!

Green + Blue-green: I used this great tutorial to make a simple composition notebook cover! If you look through your stash, you'll find that a lot of fabric designs use harmonizing color schemes, which makes your job easier!

Again, if you'd like to pull some harmonizing fabric stacks of your own, or share your harmonizing color projects, feel free to post in the flickr group! Until next week! :)

Happy Sewing!

Note: I created the color wheel graphics myself, so please don't borrow them without crediting me and linking back! Thanks! :)

The Art of Choosing: Split-Complementary Color Schemes

The Art of Choosing is a series discussing fabric, color, and the fabric selection process! For past posts, click here.

As I mentioned in the last Art of Choosing post, I want to spend the next few weeks talking about different color schemes that can be pulled directly from the color wheel! :)

Split-Complementary Color Schemes
Today is all about Split-Complementary color schemes! Split-Complementary color schemes are very similar to the Complementary colors schemes that we talked about last time. They're made by taking a single color on the color wheel, looking directly across to it's compliment but using the colors on either side of the compliment. I think (hope!), that will make more sense in the photos below! So, let's explore the 12 split-complementary color schemes in fabrics!

Red, Yellow-green, Blue-green
Red's complement is Green, the two colors on either side of Green are Yellow-green and Blue-green.
