Summer Sewing Goals Revisited

In late Spring I shared some of my Summer sewing goals.  I thought it was about time to revisit those and see how I'm doing as we head into the tail end of Summer! :)

1. Sew a quilt using my hand-dyed fabrics - Haven't done that yet, but I have dyed more fabrics! I want to do one more round in order to fill in some gaps in my stack, then it will definitely be time!

2. Branch out and try some other garment patterns - I've tried two new ones since May! The Paloma Dress and the Schoolhouse Tunic, both by Sew Liberated.  I'm planning on the Darling Ranges Dress by Megan Nielsen and the Washi Dress by Made by Rae, soon!

3. Finish up some works-in-progress - I'm doing alright in this category.  I finished up a quilt top and sent it away to be quilted by Christina.  I also started quilting an old quilt and used up a few random orphaned blocks.

4. Sew curtains for our apartment - Done! Every room has curtains now! :)

5. Sew a Weekender Bag (pattern by Amy Butler) for Sewing Summit - Haven't done this one yet! Not sure if it will happen, or if I really actually want to that badly, haha! My duffel from last year will have to do for now!

6. Wrap up a few of my hand stitching projects - Tryin'! I brought the map embroidery and my honey cowl with me on vacation, so we'll see if I can make some progress on those!

7. Sew at least one new pincushion for my collection - I've made three! Will be sharing the third this Friday as a part of Festival of Hexagons!

So, did you make any Summer sewing goals? How did you do?

  1. I would to say they have been all completed but that is not true. I have finished a few quilts, collected more fabric than I have used, and seem to have a creative block! But I keep going and hoping I will get a few more before sept.

  2. Awe! So glad you were able to do so much this summer. I didn't get much completed sewing-wise, but I think I was able to accomplish a bunch of other stuff!

  3. Not to badly on mine either, joined some new hops, working on those, join Dots and Dots so I have to plan my day to host. finshing a block, its an idea block, because I wanted to cut into the stash I have been buying for a King size I want to make. Made a baby quilt, few clothes for babies, 1 lap quilt needs binding and 2 wedding quilts in the works. learn, learn and learn to build a blog.

  8. WOW, you've been busy!
I really didn't have any goals this summer for sewing and now that I'm wanting to sew it's way too hot to be in my sewing room (no air conditioning). Think I'll bite the hot days and stick (literally) it out to get some things done!

  9. That pin cushion is way easier looking than the one I've decided to embark on and super cute!I didn't set any goals per say but I have started a lot of projects from crocheting to house renovation. 11. I love to-do lists and seeing how people progress in their tasks! Summer is such a challenging time to get stuff done but you look like you've really done well on your list! If you have a second, feel free to swing by my blog to see how I'm progressing with my own list: http://www.everydayfray.com/2012/06/summer-sewing-motivation.html

  13. It's winter here in Australia. Maybe if I construct my 'to do' Summer list now and start on it, I might be able to achieve great results like you have. Thanks for the rev up.

  14. MMMan where did you get that awesome frog? I like. And, good for you for being so accountable with your goals. As soon as I check off some goals that I'd rather not make public, I'm totally doing the same thing! And: duffle bags! What a great idea! I've been looking for something to sew. That's it!
