High Tide Mini Quilt Top by jenib320
High Tide Mini Quilt Top, a photo by jenib320 on Flickr.
I was absolutely tickled pink when Mark Cesarik, fabric designer for FreeSpirit, asked if he could send over some of his newest fabric line, Morning Tides. After seeing the photos, it took me about two seconds to say "Yes please"! I am an absolute sucker for purple, and there just is not enough purple fabric out there! When the fabric arrived on Friday, I had to sew something up with the Horizon colorway right away. I just started chopping away without too much of a plan (so unlike me!), making lots of crosses. The result, is this mini quilt! I added in some coordinating Kona solids and Heath by Alexander Henry to mix it up a little. Now I just need to decide how to quilt it! :)

After adding a new pincushion to my collection this week, I figured it was time for a new photo! I think I'm missing a few though, they're still packed away somewhere. You can never have too many pincushions!

I pulled out my Folksy Flannels infinity scarf this week, I forgot how cozy it is! I use Anna Maria Horner's tutorial but use 9" wide pieces instead of 18" wide!

I found candles for my Christmas Pyramid! I have been wanting one of these for FOREVER, and what do you know, my Mom found one thrifting for $5! We couldn't believe it. I love it. Love, love, love it!

Also, how cute is this garland? I picked it up at a gift shop in town that specializes in Scandinavian wares, The Century House. I love decorating for Christmas! :)

Good Things about Today:
- Productive sewing day!
- This bag & this bag!
- Cozy Sunday at home!
- Hanging out with Michael!

  1. I love Christmas Pyramids also and have 3, a single level with just angels, a single level nativity and a double level with huge candles and a Christmas scene - not religious. I love to light them and watch them twirl. I have a huge box of candles for the little ones, but have resorted to emergency candles cit to size for the big one.

  2. Jeni, I always wonder what you do with all these awesome and colourful minis you make! You must have a totally rad wall full of minis in your house. :)

  3. I love your Christmas Pyramid! I have never seen it before, and it turned out to be such a cute Christmas thing! Thank you!

  4. How come I never find such great stuff at "my" thrift shops? LOL How wonderful to find that gorgeous Christmas pyramid, and I really love that mini you made! Thanks for showing it....looking forward to your tut!

  5. I love your Christmas decor, so cute!

  6. I think you're right, you can never have too many (pretty) pincushions!
Love the mini and the cozy scarf too :)

  7. All so pretty! Great wall hanging and those pin cushions are adorable! fantastic collection :)

  8. Love your Christmas pyramid! I have a small one too that my parents brought me back from their trip to Germany several years ago. Love the candles, mine doesn't have any. There is a Bavarian town nearish from where I live that had a two foot tall christmas pyramid that I wish I bought. Next time!

  9. if they are tea towels, that is exactly what i am making some people for xmas. i look forward to your tutorial.

  10. All sorts of lovliness here! I really like your new little plus quilt!

  11. I'm not much of a fan of purple, but I just love your mini quilt and, of course, George is always a hit with me!

  12. I'd love to hear where you found the pyramid candles as I'm on the hunt for them as well. Love your purple mini!

  13. Super cute Christmas pyramid I think they have those all over Germany so what a GREAT find.

  14. Your Christmas pyramid is so similar to mine. I will post photos soon. My friend bought it for me in Germany, with the hard to find candles, too. Love your mini quilt, too!

  15. I really love your new mini quilt top! It's such a fun layout. And I bet your house is super cozy with all of the decorations. How fun! George looks cozy in your drawstring bag, too!

  16. The Christmas Pyramid looks wonderful. I think they are so pretty with the candles all lit.

  17. I totally missed the Folksy Flannel wave when it came out and I have been DYING to find some!! Know anyone still selling it?

Oh, and I LOVE your pincushions!
