I finished my new purse yesterday! I love it! I have a love/hate relationship with the process of using this pattern, but it's totally worth the result! I used the Emma Bag pattern by Grand Revival Designs. I did a few things differently: I interfaced the entire thing with fusible fleece and used Peltex for the bottom. I also altered the strap, making it shorter and slightly wider. I didn't piece the lining front or back like instructed, I traced a new pattern piece and used that instead to avoid a seam down the middle.
The exterior is Lovesme Lovesmenot in Bark by Anna Maria Horner from Innocent Crush. It's home dec weight cotton sateen, really dreamy to work with. The bottom accents are Wallflower in Mustard by Amy Butler from Lotus. The lining is Apples & Ginger by Bonijean. Finally, the inside pocket is Fortune in Chocolate by Anna Maria Horner from Good Folks!
Look what arrived in my mailbox yesterday?! Yes, that's right, the gorgeous single girl pillow that Angela made! And! It's made from vintage sheets that I sent Angela in December in a swap! How cool is that? On top of that, one of her beautiful crochet stars! And can you believe 2 out of the 3 pillow-forms I have are 24"? Match made in heaven! I am in love, thank you dear!
As if I wasn't already spoiled enough! Terri & Sophia surprised me with this ridiculously cute pink hedgehog! It's been a bit of a rough week and this really cheered me up! Thank you, that was so sweet of you! Hello Kitty has already claimed him! They do have almost the same fur! Haha!
One of my better ideas if I do say so myself. My Mom gave me a bunch of rhubarb at the end of the summer right after she made this amazing cobbler (hello, it has a shortcake topping, YUM). I decided to stick the rhubarb in the freezer and save it for the middle of winter. I thought "how good would strawberry rhubarb cobbler taste in the middle of winter?". The verdict: very, very good!
Felt like making salsa this week. I happened to ask for recipe suggestions a mere minutes after Erin posted a photo of the salsa she made last night! She pointed me in the direction of the Pioneer Woman's recipe! So good!
George!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous bag!!! Um, your crochet star matches it, so I guess you're going to have to keep it in your purse ;0). What a fun gift!
ReplyDeleteThe purse looks great. I love the colors. I'm in need of a new purse, and I can't decide if I should buy one or make one. I partial to cross over purses. I like to keep my hands free while shopping. So I'm still looking for the perfect pattern. Oh, the drama of my life!
ReplyDeleteI love your bag! It's so cute! And that is so sweet of Terri and Sophie to send you the awesome little hedgehog, and Angela to send you the pillow! I really love the flower scrubbies she makes.
