Vintage Sewing Machine
Vintage Sewing Machine, a photo by Jeni Baker on Flickr.
Happy Monday! I realized this morning that I never shared the photos I took from all the thrifting and antiquing I did with my parents last month during their visit.  We went around town to my regular haunts and we also did a little driving to hit some out of town shops.  I often take photos of the lovely things I leave behind!

How sweet is this green New Home sewing machine? Love the color!

  1. Do you have any info on that sewing machine? It's similar to the one I earned on 35 years ago. My mom had a white one, no contrasting colors and the shape was a little softer looking.

  2. Any chance you'd be willing to share your favorite places to thrift around Madison, or do you want to keep them super-secret (which I'd totally understand!)?

    1. Everywhere I go comes up on google maps when you search for thrift shops in madison. They're all chains like goodwill, savers, st. vincent, salvation army, and hospice thrift shops!

  3. I have a new home that is a lesser beast than that one, but from the same series! Same color, but just straight stitch and doesn't look quite as industrial. Love it! Beautiful quilts, I love all the neat things you find when thrifting!

  9. I'm thinking that floral basket could be the inspiration for a great new fabric line.

  11. I have that green New Home and it is a beast! I LOVE New Homes and have become something of a connoisseur! Quilting with a NH in a table is a breeze, you can shove anything through it. I'm pretty sure you could free motion a 2x4!

  12. I have the New Home too! Mine needs the foot pedal fixed. You can see all ours here at my blog. I have a treadle,
two first generation electrics (could have been treadles?), the New Home, an old Singer that I've got in the shop now plus my Pfaff. I love that New Home too, it will last forever!

  13. So jealous! So much variety! Here in Florida...I have not had much luck in thrift stores. I walked into a Salvation Army asking if they had sewing stuff (they had a rusty metal sewing machine..) and the lady told me they don't carry such things. Ridiculous!

    Thrifting is much better upstate!

  15. That New Home looks a lot like the one my Mom had when I was growing up. She gave it to my non-sewing sister - I may have to reclaim it one of these days :)
