Happy Monday! I realized this morning that I never shared the photos I took from all the thrifting and antiquing I did with my parents last month during their visit. We went around town to my regular haunts and we also did a little driving to hit some out of town shops. I often take photos of the lovely things I leave behind!
How sweet is this green New Home sewing machine? Love the color!
What can I say, I love vintage tins. This peanut butter one is so cool!
Love the drawings on this cracker box.
I can't resist tins and quilt tops! Love this layout for hexagons!
Such sweet illustrations.
Another fun quilt! Love how scrappy it is!
Love the fabrics in this one!
Cute metal picnic baskets, I love the floral one!
Lots of vintage kitchenware!
I really wanted to bring home this metal tray, but it was too pricey!
Cute pincushions made using metal jar lids!
Happy Thrifting!
Do you have any info on that sewing machine? It's similar to the one I earned on 35 years ago. My mom had a white one, no contrasting colors and the shape was a little softer looking.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I don't! Just snapped a quick photo as I passed by!
DeleteAny chance you'd be willing to share your favorite places to thrift around Madison, or do you want to keep them super-secret (which I'd totally understand!)?
ReplyDeleteEverywhere I go comes up on google maps when you search for thrift shops in madison. They're all chains like goodwill, savers, st. vincent, salvation army, and hospice thrift shops!
DeleteI have a new home that is a lesser beast than that one, but from the same series! Same color, but just straight stitch and doesn't look quite as industrial. Love it! Beautiful quilts, I love all the neat things you find when thrifting!
ReplyDeleteoooo I love that metal basket!! Really cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing those photos, I enjoyed them.
ReplyDeleteSo many neat things! Those quilts are great!
ReplyDeleteI just learned that New Home was bought by Janome years ago. Just some random sewing trivia....:)
How much was that orange Pyrex bowl in the picture from Columbus thrift? I love orange and I've totally been wanting that bowl!!
ReplyDeleteLook at all the tins!! WOW - a peanut butter can. lol And the sewing basket tins. I can't believe what you can find. SO... how do you not go home with EVERYTHING you find?? Jeni those are so fabulous. I love coming to your blog.

I'm thinking that floral basket could be the inspiration for a great new fabric line.
ReplyDeleteI dont know how you able to resist but thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have that green New Home and it is a beast! I LOVE New Homes and have become something of a connoisseur! Quilting with a NH in a table is a breeze, you can shove anything through it. I'm pretty sure you could free motion a 2x4!
ReplyDeleteI have the New Home too! Mine needs the foot pedal fixed. You can see all ours here at my blog. I have a treadle,
ReplyDeletetwo first generation electrics (could have been treadles?), the New Home, an old Singer that I've got in the shop now plus my Pfaff. I love that New Home too, it will last forever!

So jealous! So much variety! Here in Florida...I have not had much luck in thrift stores. I walked into a Salvation Army asking if they had sewing stuff (they had a rusty metal sewing machine..) and the lady told me they don't carry such things. Ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteThrifting is much better upstate!
What awesome stuff to find at thrift stores! Ours are filled with junk! :(
ReplyDeleteThat New Home looks a lot like the one my Mom had when I was growing up. She gave it to my non-sewing sister - I may have to reclaim it one of these days :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a great eye for vintage finds, Jeni! How do you resist? I couldn't! :)
