I'm excited to share today that I was interviewed for an article that appears in the current issue of UPPERCASE Magazine. The issue is #57, their 5th Surface Pattern Design Guide!


Kerrie More reached out last year about an article she was writing all about vintage sheets for this issue! I love to talk vintage sheets, and we spent some time one evening in December chatting all about them. At the time, I didn't know too much about what the rest of the article would include.


I was tickled that a number of my photographs appear in the article, alongside my interview. There are also interviews from other creatives who collect/use vintage sheets as well as profiles on different vintage sheet designers/companies! Friday Favorites 58

- I revisted an old favorite recipe this week and made a batch of these biscuits to go a pot of tomato soup. I forgot how good they are! I make them as drop biscuits because I can't be bothered to roll out the dough.

- Look at the beautiful quilt Nicole Vos van Avezathe is making with my Candyweb Quilt Block Pattern! Those colors are so good.

- Stumbled upon the work of Hannah & Nemo, who repurpose colorful aluminum cans into beautiful art that moves.


- We made a trip to one of our favorite nurseries this week for the first time this season! I picked up this adorable yard sign* while we were there.

- The Lisse Jacket Pattern by Kindred Red is like knitted patchwork! I love how colorful and cheerful it is.

- Love this pinafore dress made by Justice McNeil. I'd love to make something like this one day!


- Thrift find of the week is definitely this solid wood picture frame I found for $1.50. Can't wait to put something in it!

- The color scheme of this quilt by Caroline Hadley is really speaking to me.

- Cute animal video to share this week, baby toucans!


- Dusty just can't get enough of the sun patches these days!

What I'm Currently Working On

Happy Wednesday! It felt like a good day to share what I've been working on in the craft room lately.


I cut up a bunch (more than I needed) of squares to make a couple plus quilts! I'm making a throw size and a baby size, and I still have squares leftover. Whoops! I might make some pillows with the leftovers, or just add them into my scrap bins. The throw size quilt is the same size as my Modern Plus Quilt Tutorial, and the baby size can be found in my Arithmetic Quilt Pattern.



This weekend I got both quilts laid out on the floor and then stacked them all up. I'm glad I have a couple sets of row markers (make your own: DIY Row Markers for Quilting). I especially love using the set I made with stickers. They're so cheerful. Now I have a lot of chain piecing ahead of me. Need to find a good show to rewatch while I do that. Anything new and I'm likely to get too sucked in!


I'm working on a new grow bag tutorial! This one is made from felt, and even better than the tutorial I released a few years ago (see it here: DIY Fabric Grow Bags). I tested the material I used last season and I'm really happy with the results I saw. That will be coming soon, hopefully early next month!


Last week I cut up fabrics for two new dresses. It's been fun to dip my toes into garment sewing again after taking a long break from it. I'm making another dress using the Hinterland Dress by Sew Liberated using another vintage sheet. The first one I made is just too comfortable, I know it will be perfect for the summer months.


Kitty helped me cut out the dresses on the dining room table!


The second dress I already stitched up this week! I used one of my knit fabrics from Curiosities* paired with the Out and About Dress Pattern by Sew Caroline. I made this dress in another fabric 5 or 6 years ago, but I don't think I ever posted it here. It is really comfortable.


I meant to share a photo of the artwork I made, that I mentioned in my last Friday favorites post! I really had fun making something for no reason other than to make it. It was also a good exercise working with a medium I don't have much experience with. I used this tutorial to make it.

- Saw some beautiful cherry blossoms over the weekend. I think they were at their peak! We had a snap of really warm weather, so everything is blooming early it feels like!

- I ordered some Pips by Aneela Hoey*, I can't wait for it to arrive! Sherbet Pips was one of my favorite collections back when it came out.

- I love this cozy pillow that Maywood Studio made using my Bear Paw Pillow Pattern and some of their flannels!


- Not going to lie, I bought this Oui yogurt for the glass jar. I have a few of their jars saved, I want to order some of these lids* for them!

- I think these little embroideries by Arounna Khounnoraj are so sweet.

- I made some art just for fun! I followed this tutorial by Andrea Nelson.

- The fabric combinations in these blocks by Elisabeth Woo are just so good!


- For lunches this week I made an old favorite pizza. Store-bought pizza dough, homemade pizza sauce from the freezer, topped with red bell peppers, corn, mozzerella and parmesan. Eaten with a side of arugula dressed with olive oil and vinegar!

- We also tried a new recipe this week, these butter chicken meatballs. It was delicious and really easy to make.

- Super excited for this collection of pieces Ikea will be rereleasing this summer to celebrate their 80th anniversary!


- Kitten is very happy that it's been warm enough to crack open some windows!
