Hi everybody! Happy New Year! It feels good to be back, but that little break was nice! It was a REALLY busy few days! We drove up to Michigan to enjoy New Years Eve with Michael's family, I visited Ikea for the first time (bought fabric of course!), drove back home through a snowstorm, had a lazy day on Tuesday and taught a kid's class at The Sewcial Lounge today! Phew! Thank you for all your encouraging comments on my year end post! It's funny how you feel like you didn't do much until you pile it all together, it was a busy year! I hope to share my resolutions for this year with you this weekend!
I am working away behind the scenes on our Half-Square Triangle Block of the Month! Blocks will launch the first week of each month! I'm excited to share more information and the first block with you tomorrow! I'm already loving the colors I choose for mine! :)
This is what happens when you put your mail on hold for a week and a half! Well that and shop holiday sales at The Intrepid Thread, Pink Chalk Fabrics, and Pink Castle Fabrics! Plus I won a delicious Art Gallery fabric bundle giveaway on Rachel's blog! Thanks dear! :)
How awesome is this fabric?! I couldn't resist! Where's my 'stache? Haha!
My first finish of 2012 is actually a knit finish! Totally throwing me off, but it's true! I finished up my giant knit cowl. I used Baby Chunky by Twinkle Yarns that I picked up in Salt Lake City this past fall. It's so squishy and soft, I love it! I put it on Ravelry!
My current rule for knitting/crochet projects is one at a time. Also, no buying yarn until I finish the current project. I want to make sure I really want to take on this hobby before I go buying up all kinds of pretty yarns! This is Madelinetosh Vintage in French Grey.
George is very happy to be back home! Here he is having a snack of hay... sitting in the hay! Silly rabbit! :)
I'm working on getting the shop back open tomorrow!
Today I love the..
Smell of: Marshmallow Fireside candle
Sound of: George running around
Taste of: Grilled ham + cheese
Sight of: Clean apartment
Feel of: Warm slippers
Good Things about Today:
- Had a productive day!
- Cleaned out my inbox!
- Mustache fabric!
- Happy, happy email! :)
good idea on the yarn buying. I want to learn to knit and our local yarn store is going out of business. I am tempted to buy a bunch of yarn but don't really know how much knitting I will do.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year Jeni !!!
ReplyDeleteYou are already so cratfy in the first days of the new year.
I'm looking forward to see all your new projects this year.
BTW...the moustache fabric is super cool ;)
I wish I could knit! I tried it many years ago and made a scarf, but never did it again. Totally forgot how. I love the color you chose for your cowl. Bet it's warm! Nice George!
ReplyDeleteYour cowl looks so cosy!! And I'm looking forward to seeing what you do for the HST blocks each month too!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed Ikea, I love that place. What fabric did you buy?
ReplyDeleteThat stach fabric is SO cute. I must find some. I thought Ikea was discontinuing their fabric, but perhaps not?
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Jeni! Love the fabric and the 'stache one is great! The cowl looks gorgeous :) You'd need it here with all the gales!
ReplyDeleteI just finished a HST quilt using those same fabrics! Love them! I could get lost in Ikea for days. I'm planning to go some day next week. Love your knit cowl!
ReplyDeleteYour Half-Square Triangle Block looks like it is so pretty! I just starting sewing 6 months ago and tried (and failed) to use the same approach you are taking for knitting. One project at a time. I think I now have more fabric then yarn!
ReplyDeleteLove love LOVE HST blocks - can't wait to see yours
ReplyDeleteHappy new year! Love the 'stache fabric, excellent :oD
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite hst blocks! Looks good. Have fun teaching!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I'm so excited for your HST block of the month. I think it will be a really fun project. Now, I just need to organized the craft room to get prepared.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I'm happy you are loving knitting. I think it is the best hobby ever - but I'm a bit bias. Is that the honeycomb cowl pattern I spy in your picture? I made one and am in LOVE with it. It is so darn squishy.
I love my honey cowl...it's a staple in my wardrobe this winter. I just bought a skein of madelinetosh and I'm still looking for the "perfect" pattern for it
ReplyDeleteYou can never have too much yarn!
ReplyDeleteOoh, loving those fabrics! I was just perusing the moustache fabric. Cute! And your new yarn looks decadent!
ReplyDeleteI love the mustache fabric! We have a lot of mustache jokes going at our house, I may have to get some of that fabric...
ReplyDeleteI think buying for one project at a time is such a good plan with new hobbies. It's so easy to get crazy buying up lovely things for any hobby- but you want to know you really love it so you don't regret your purchases later. ;) It's one of my goals for this year- to become more project oriented instead of stash oriented.
i love the mustache fabric... totally cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your knitting! I still haven't finished my Honey Cowl that I started at Sewing Summit, but I am using the exact same Madeline Tosh yarn! It's so beautiful :) Have fun <3
