Summer Hiatus

I wanted to pop in to let you know that I'm taking a summer hiatus starting today! Since I started this blog back in 2009, I haven't taken an intentional extended break and it feels like the right time. I want to spend as little time on screens this summer as I can. Hopefully when I come back, I'll be feeling refreshed and energized to share more creative work and bring you more valuable information/tutorials!

Here's what you need to know:

- The plan is to bring new blog posts back starting in September, probably around the start of Fall.

- I will continue shipping physical goods (twill tape, beads, paper patterns, books) from my online shop through the end of June. So stock up while you can! Shipping will reopen in September.

- PDF patterns will continue to be available all summer long, but pattern and email support will be delayed. I'll be available, but it may take me an extra day or two to get back to your inquiry! The best way to contact me during this time (and any time!), is through my contact form which can be found here: Contact Me

- Wholesale pattern ordering will remain open all summer, but response times may be delayed.

While I'm away, I would recommend diving into my archives of over 1,700 posts! Here are a few places to start:

- I've shared 100+ tutorials here on the blog ranging from free quilt patterns to home decor tutorials and informational posts. Check out my Tutorials page for all those posts. I also have a number of video tutorials that can be found on my Youtube Channel.

- Looking for some guided sewing? You can find all the sew alongs I've hosted (including 3 years worth of the Lined Drawstring Bag Sew Along) on my Sew Alongs page.

- Summer is the perfect time to dip your toes into fabric dyeing since you can do it outside! Indigo dyeing is a magical experience and I have an in depth tutorial for doing it at home: DIY Indigo Fabric Dyeing Tutorial

- If you've got the itch to organize your sewing space this summer, may I suggest my Sewing Room Organization Series? It's full of inspiration and ideas for making the most out of your creative space.

- It's a great time to catch up on my Friday Favorites Series, for which there are now 61 posts!

- Check out my Pinterest, which I have loved curating over many years! I have dedicated boards for different quilt types, project types and much more.

I hope you all have a great summer!

Happy Making!

Friday Favorites 61

Happy Friday! It's time for another Friday Favorites post! Catch up on previous posts here: Friday Favorites Archives

- I finished a quilt top, made backings for two quilts and got them both out for longarming this week! I dug into my stash of Erin McMorris* fabrics for both. Still love her fabrics so much.

- A beautiful take on a memory quilt by Season Evans.

- These EPP projects by Madeline Bonner make me want to finally cut into some of my Hello Kitty Liberty prints!

- Love the unique skirt on the Azure Dress Pattern by Closet Core Patterns. It's a part of their Crew Pattern membership.

- I really want to find a spot in our home where I can install some wood shelving like this.

- I made a tiny planter box! It sits in front of our basement window on our driveway, so I can see flower everytime I go down the basement (which is often since our laundry is down there). It's similar construction to the big planter boxes we made a few years ago with this tutorial.

- We watched the series finale of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel over the weekend, and I was so happy with how they wrapped everything up in the last season. Always nice when that happens!

- I think I've settled on a new favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, this one from Joy the Baker. I've made it a few times before, but this time it really hit the spot. I chilled the dough for 24 hours before baking and made them quite a bit smaller.

- Ordered myself a new self-inking address stamp* this week, these things are so handy! Would make a great house-warming gift for someone who just moved!

- I caught Dusty taking a nap in a box full of her favorite brown paper. She is obsessed with the kraft paper you get in packages these days. Here she is mid-yawn. :)

Have a Great Weekend!
