Another Tova Top by jenib320
Another Tova Top, a photo by jenib320 on Flickr.
Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend! Mine was filled to the brim, so Monday ended up being a bit slower than usual! Saturday the Madison Modern Quilt Guild had it's first sew day, and while I didn't get a ton of sewing done, it was a lot of fun! :)

At the tail end of the weekend, I managed to start another Tova Top, pattern by Wiksten! I picked up this print from Maya by Leah Duncan, it just seemed the perfect print for this pattern.  This top fits me really well, so this is the fourth version and I still have plans for more! I do have a few other patterns to try in the coming weeks, but for now I'm happy to have another Tova to add to the rotation!

You can find the Tova pattern here, and Maya fabric here and here.

Other than my new top, I feel like I've mostly been cutting out new projects rather than actually sewing lately! Finally finishing up my Mendocino quilt and wrapping up the Vintage Nine-Patch Quilt Pattern have left me feeling off-balance!

The above half-hexagons are for a new bag for myself! I'm using the Claire Bag Pattern by Clover & Violet!

I have made a bit of progress on my Prince Charming + Neptune Kaleidoscope quilt! All the cutting is now finished and I'm half way through sewing the corner triangles! I'm using the Marti Mitchell Kaleido ruler!

As if I needed any more new projects, I started cutting out the Patchwork Prism Quilt by Anna Maria Horner.  It's a free PDF pattern, you can find it here.  I'm using my personal vintage sheet collection! The cutting is a bit slow going, but I'm happy to be making a quilt from sheets again! :)

I got lucky on eBay again last week! Snatched up another vintage Cathrineholm enamelware tea pot, this time an orange one. Don't they look so cute together? I'm normally not a big eBay shopper, but for some reason this one too flew under the radar and went for much less than usual. I had to jump at it, hehe!

Lilacs by jenib320

We had a bunch of thunderstorms and wind over the weekend, and they brought me a gift! I woke up Sunday morning to a big bunch of dark purple lilacs in front of our building, directly in front of our apartment! They're my absolute favorite flower!

  2. you are whipping out the garments like a crazy person!! I love seeing all of your different versions of them. And YAY! for Michael coming home early!

  3. You can never have too many of those tops! Did you see there's a quilt along for the AMH pattern? It's at Http://

  4. prism is going to be gorgeous in the vintage sheets!

  5. The new projects look great, the prism will be gorgeous!

  6. Another gorgeous Tova Jeni! I can't wait to see your prism quilt! :)

  7. Gorgeous Tova top! You are the main reason I brought it! Inspiration + Encouragement = Learning new things! I have yet to trace the pattern and cut the pieces, just lack of time is my problem :)

That bag pattern is so cute! I'm loving and oogling over the pocket features on it. Hmm, may be my next bag pattern!

Loving all the quilty goodness. And George is such a cutie!

  8. I'm sure your 'patchwork prism' quilt will be lovely in vintage sheets! I love the smell of lilacs - ours won't be in bloom for awhile yet.

  9. Loooove that ruler! Makes it so much easier to do. Can't wait to see it all finished

  10. I wish I could get the placket sewn in correctly on the Tova....wanna do mine?? So frustrating, and I know it's me and my epic poor garment construction skills!

  11. Ohhh, your new Tova is sooo pretty! I really like the fabric you chose and I definitely need to get on making myself one of those too (and the tank since I already have both the patterns) - I am a lousy procrastinator!

Can't wait to see your finished bag and quilts - I know they're going to look awesome as usual ;)

  12. I looove lilacs too. A lilac tree grew over my fence at my first house. I think I have to plant myself one at this house. Can't wait to see your AMH quilt.

  13. My your rotary cutter has been busy! All your new projects look so pretty, I'd have a hard deciding which one to work on first :)
Love lilacs too, mine are just starting to bud, April is so good for flowers:))))

  14. I love the fabrics for your new bag..I'm such a fan of purple!

  15. You have so much going on here! I am lovin' the hexies!

  16. uh oh I better stock up on some more Rivera ... :) Luckily I just got a new bolt in. You are using some of my favorite fabrics for your half hexies. Yes, for certain!

  17. Can't wait to see your vintage sheet prisms come together!

Hope I get to go to the next sew day. :)

  18. So much goodness in this post! I love your newest Tova (like I said on flickr, that is one of my favorite prints as of late; I bought a bunch!). I love the look of your Kaleidoscope quilt, too, and your prism project! Hi, George!

  19. Hello Jeni,
I just discovered your blog & love what I see here! You are just into everything.

Since you are obviously a most creative person, I would appreciate your thoughts on creativity, what sparks yours, what feeds it long-term, etc, on my brand new blog Creativity Check-in at

  20. I've been looking at the AMH prism quilt and thinking of using vintage sheet fabrics too! I've just finished the Oh My Stars quilt in vintage sheets and it was so much fun I need to start another vintage sheet quilt!

  21. Love the tops! I might have to try one! I went to the link but the patterns are sold out! How is the fabric? Is it lightweight for summer?
