Made a light box yesterday based on this tutorial! The lighting in our apartment is bad now, but it will only get worse now that winter is getting closer!

Smell of: Twisted peppermint candle
Sound of: George working
Taste of: Lunch from Dumpling Haus
Sight of: Twinkle lights
Feel of: Warm socks

Good Things about Today:
- Got an entire quit cut out!
- Snatched batting on sale today!
- Watching TV with Michael :)

  1. I like that Sparkling Cider pattern.... I have the pattern and it's on the "to make" list!

Love that light box! Very cool...

George is just getting handsomer and handsomer!

  2. I used to have a cardboard light box just like that. Then I saw one of those collapsible laundry hampers in white that I bought & now I use that for my lightbox. The fabric is perfect for diffusing. Plus I can fold it up and stash it easily when not in use. I also have an actual lightbox used for tracing that I got at a garage sale once for $5. I use that underneath to light the items from below. I like the effect that gives.

Bear paw is one of my favorite patterns! I love yours! I haven't made one in so long, though. May be time to revisit it soon.

  3. Great idea for the lightbox. I want to make one to trace quilt applique shapes, but also need to learn about bouncing light to get better quality photos. Love the colors of your cut outs. Avocado green with turquoise, orange and grey. Interesting!

  4. Wow that's a haul! I only found a bunch of pillow cases on my last trip :)

  5. Thanks for the light box reference! I am SOO in need of one of these!

  6. oh jeni, you've got so many cute things going. don't worry, it's actually pretty bright in the winter, sun reflecting off the snow and all. :)

  7. That Sparkling Cider pattern is so cute. I bet that will be great with little apples.

  8. How wonderful to have those blocks that your grandmother made and to know what to do with them.

  9. do i see a strawberry print fabric in there at the bottom of the stack??? i'm fixin to get that pattern tattooed on my ankle.

  10. Love eating at the Dumpling Haus!

  11. i swear that you must have millions of old ladies that live near your thrift shops. i wish it was like that here!

  12. Using apples to make sparkling cider = The perfect plan! I need one of those lightbox things too, thanks for the link!

  13. I love that you're using your grandmother's blocks. That bear claw quilt has a very modern look, actually!

  14. Love the Bear Claw quilt and ~ I'm wondering ~ what work does George do?

  15. Ekk! I love that orange stripped sheet! If you haven't cut into it yet, would you consider selling me the whole thing? How much would you want for it?

The Little Apples quilt is going to be great. I really like the pattern you picked for it.

  16. You're SO good that you've made a light box!!!! I have lighting galore and still just post grainy images during the winter time ; ) LOL. You'll be in inspiration this year, Jeni!!!! :D

  17. All your pictures are so beautiful!! Great work, love the quilt! And warm socks?! Yes please :)

  18. Ooh, I love the light box! I've been wanting to make one for years, and never have, but the thought of winter darkness is giving me some more motivation!

  19. I just love the bear claw quilt. How special!! And the Sparkling CIder pattern is so much fun. Little Apples will make it super adorable, but not as adorable as George! I'm glad you're feeling confident with the knitting. Keep it up, Jeni! It looks great so far!!

  20. All of these projects look so amazing! And isn't it wonderful working with the same things your grandmother did? My grandmother didn't quilt, but she was a superb seamstress and I use her scissors all the time. That bear claw quilt is just lovely.

  21. Hey Jeni! It's emily, fellow teacher from The Sewcial Lounge! Sara was telling me all about your blog today and it sounded so fantastic, I had to come check you out. It looks so, so fun - I'm your newest follower! Can't wait to read more, and maybe I'll get to meet ya sometime at the shop. -emily b
