Knitting Update

Sunday, November 17, 2013

Happy Sunday! In between today's crazy weather, I managed to take some photos of my recent knits.  I've been knitting away the last few months, so I have a bit of a backlog to projects. Knitting has become the perfect craft for me right now.  It lets me relax but is still challenging.  It's so different from sewing and quilting, which is just what I need. It's leaving me more refreshed when I do sew, so it's a win win.

I'm really proud of my latest finish.  It's the Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief.  It really pushed me and I learned a LOT of new skills knitting this one.  I had to restart it quite a few times, but it was totally worth it.  I am looking forward to knitting a shawl now!

I used a pretty purple worsted weight yarn by Malabrigo.

This cowl has already been getting a lot of use, especially on the colder days we've had this month.  It's a simple seed stitch cowl, and I worked on it primarily while traveling the past few months. It was easy to pick up and put down, and didn't take much thought. It's nice and squishy and matches all my coats, which is great!

About a month ago, my friend Lei and I got together for a bit of knitting and I started another Hannah Hat.  This hat knits up so quick, I got most of the way through it in just a couple hours.  Before I know it, it's going to be cold enough to wear it!

Now that I have two chunky hats, I thought it was time to knit myself something a little more delicate and lightweight.  I've cast on for Swift, a pattern from a new knit collaborative book Journey by Shannon Cook and Jane Richmond. More on that soon! :)

Happy Knitting!

  1. Don't you look A DOR ABLE. Those jewel tones must be just your colors. Long time reader, no stalker, you just look lovely! I don't know nothing bout knitting, but these look like quite an accomplishment. :-)

  2. I love knitting and love seeing your knits. You are progressing nicely and since your scarf is just a small shawl, you will be fine to make a shawl too. If you are worried about the lace parts, you could consider using a life line - maybe I have forgotten its name but it allows you to rip back to a point without messing up the lace as much. And there are many photos of you about, those first two in this post are really excellent.
